Details:

Hoping someone may get better use out of it than I can at this point. Not sure if you'd want to risk that on a vehicle or. It has been inside ever since, on the refrigerator in my man cave.

I took it to work, sand blasted the rust off bare metal and ran through nickle chrome bath, plating entire piece with electroless. The rust ate bulk of 4 mounting bolts as shown in pictures. I used three rare earth magnets to hold it the fridge and never fell off. Pulled this rusty piece of steel off an ancient vw bus about 20 years ago.

I'd imagine new threads could be welded. The years in elements have caused pitting and a few holes from rust. Has character with its flaws in my opinion and a story to go it. Its a cool old original piece of history from an auto manufacturer i've loved since I was kid.
